The recent gold rush debacle where Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula is heavily implicated, has sent him in a state of quandary. The fraud also evokes serious questions among Kenyans as to ;just how deep are our politicians corrupt ? To what lengths are our politicians willing to go in the abyss of corruption? How much are they ready to illegally 'mine' at home and con in bulks abroad?
The viral audio
In the viral telephone call leakage going rounds in social media, Senator Wetangula is allegedly conversing with an Arabic male who is said to be Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, United Arab Emirates prince.
The conversation is about gold that the Dubai's prince purchased from Congo and that is also said to have stuck in JKIA. The whole conversation is a back and forth, mumbling and half witted responses from Bungoma Senator Wetangula as he impetuously mentions Interior CS Matiangi and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Now, Mr. Raila and Cs Matiangi has only one job to do,(whether they like it or not): To clear their names from the scandalous list.
How deep is wetangula in this mess?
According to what is known so far, Senator Wetangula is among the fraudsters who are involved in the case since the beginning of this year.
Crackdown
President Uhuru a few days ago ordered a crackdown on fake gold fraud that is said to be perpetrated by villainy of professional racketeers based in Nairobi. The crackdow is also as a result of UAE prince's persistent query to President Uhuru asking about his gold said to be stuck at JKIA.
Whatever business the President has with Sheik is obviously not questionable. As the head of state, his relation with UAE prince can be deduced to be diplomatic. However, Wetangula seems to not leave out any big names in his bluff with Dubai prince.
In the same thought, whatever business Senator Wetangula has with the prince is apparently a dare con of a powerful Emirati! This shows how reckless and untamed our politicians have become. The country continues to suffer under the shadow of contemptible thieves of public money. The few, and of whom we thought were a bit clean, are busy robing abroad!
Dubai harsh punishment
In Emirates, "flogging is a punishment for criminal offences" -Wikipedia. In fact, kissing in public is punishable by 80 lashes and for foreigners, 80 lashes and deportation. Illicit sex is punishable by 40-60 lashes. Now, what about a thief? A bribe? A bribe is punishable by 5 years in prison. This includes everyone involved - the receiver and the giver!
Kenya lawlessness
In Dubai, and as we speak, Wetangula could be in a temporal prison sentence awaiting his case to open and investigation completed; all this while he is freezing cold in a Dubai cell. If convicted, the sentence of 15 years in prison will apply and deportation after jail time is complete.
Kenya on the other hand, a known thief of public funds, like general Waititu, caught red handed, is declared innocent until proved innocent! And business continues as usual. We, the citizens, are expected to stay calm and assume it didn't happen! In fact, we reward our thieves by electing them into higher positions than they were before they stole out tax billions!
Kenya vs Dubai
In recent news, the UAE ambassador to Kenya has flashed off the claim that there is relation between the gold scandal and Dubai prince. He has also refuted the fact that the two countries are in loggerheads with each other over some petty thieves of gold involving some business man named Zhadi (who by the way) the ambassador says he doesn't know whether he exists or not or whether he is from Emirates or not!
Kenyan detectives are currently in Emirates trying to find out what in the world is going on.
As of now, Wetangula is the subject of mockery and center of insults from the rest of Kenyan thieves who we normally call politicians! All the names he mentioned, ODM leader, Raila Ondinga, Interior CS, Fred Matiangi are all trying in futility to blush off the gold dust! The story still unfolds but as we all know, it's all flotsam and jetsam. In other words, no one will get punished except a few poor guys who have never seen a speck of cataract except in movies and Facebook memes!
